The special edition could bring a subwoofer and an amplifier to the non-GT variants of the two Volkswagen cars

The ‘Sound’ edition is a newly conceptualised special edition of the SUV in addition to those unveiled in early 2023.

Both could get special edition decals as seen on the GT Edge Trail Edition.

No mechanical changes to be made; the Volkswagen duo gets both 1-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options.
Shortly after introducing the GT Edge Trail Edition of the Volkswagen Taigun, the German carmaker has now teased yet another special edition of the compact SUV. Called the ‘Sound’ edition, it will also be available with the Volkswagen Virtus and is slated to be launched tomorrow.
What Could It Be About?
November 20, 2023
Based on the name, we expect Volkswagen to introduce some audio or music system-specific changes with the special editions of its compact SUV and sedan offerings. For now only the GT Plus and GT Edge variants of the Taigun and Virtus get a subwoofer and an amplifier, which we think could be passed on to the higher-spec variants under the Dynamic Line.
Since it’s a special edition, you can also expect a few cosmetic changes such as some special decals like we saw on the Taigun’s GT Edge Trail Edition. It’s also worth noting that this special edition is different from the set of models that Volkswagen had unveiled in the first half of the year. Also, while other carmakers have majorly focused on introducing special editions centred around cosmetic changes, Volkswagen appears to be the only one bringing out a sound-specific edition.
No Change Underneath The Hood
The latest special edition will not sport any mechanical changes. The Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus are offered with two turbo-petrol engine options: a 1-litre 3-cylinder unit (115 PS/178 Nm) and the other a 1.5-litre engine (150 PS/250 Nm). A 6-speed manual is available as standard with both the engines. While the former can be had with an optional 6-speed AT, the latter gets a 7-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) automatic option.

Rivals And Price Range
There are only four rivals to the Volkswagen Virtus: the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Maruti Ciaz. On the other hand, the Volkswagen Taigun takes on the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
While the sedan is priced from Rs 11.48 lakh to Rs 19.29 lakh, the Volkswagen SUV is priced between Rs 11.62 lakh and Rs 19.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
