It has been a rather busy week in for the automotive industry. With the Christmas season going on, automakers want to give their customers a reason to celebrate by providing discounts on their models. Also, the week saw the launch of Volkswagen’s 21st century Beetle and the bookings for Mahindra's latest, KUV100 have opened at Rs. 10,000. J.D. Power Study has shown that Elite i20 and XUV500 have best designs with Creta taking home the Car Of The Year award. Maruti Swift Dzire automatic variant was spied and the news surfacing that an electric variant of Mahindra Verito will be launched in February 2016.
Volkswagen India Launches 21st Century Beetle at Rs. 28.73 lacs
Volkswagen has launched the much awaited Beetle in the country at a starting price tag of Rs. 28.73 lacs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The bookings for the 21st century Beetle was already underway. Mahindra KUV100 Bookings Open For Rs. 10,000
Last week, Mahindra unveiled details and images of its upcoming car, KUV100. Earlier codenamed as S101, the car will be the first micro SUV in the Indian market and will be followed by Maruti Suzuki Ignis. A Mahindra dealership told CarDekho that bookings for the KUV100 are open at a price of Rs. 10,000 and deliveries for the car will start from January 30, 2016. Mahindra introduced an all new family of petrol and diesel engines called mFALCON for the KUV100. Initially, these engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an automatic transmission could be introduced in the near future. KUV 100 price is expected to be around Rs. 4-7 lacs and it will be launched on January 15, 2016. Read More
Hyundai Creta is the Indian Car Of The Year 2016; Beats Baleno and Kwid
Hyundai Creta has bagged the Indian Car Of The Year 2016 (ICOTY) award, making it the third consecutive ICOTY win for Hyundai after Grand i10 and Elite i20 winning the 2014 and 2015 ICOTY awards respectively. Honda India Announces Price Hike of upto Rs. 16,000 from January 2016
Honda Cars India Ltd. has announced a price hike of up to Rs. 16,000 for all its models in India. The Japanese carmaker sells cars from Brio (entry-level small car), costing Rs 4.25 lac (ex-showroom Delhi), to CR-V, priced at Rs 25.13 lac (ex-showroom Delhi). The automaker claims that the announcement for the rise in prices comes at a time when input costs are increasing for the maker. It also said that the hike will be ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 16,000, depending upon the model of car. Read More

Elite i20, Vento and XUV500 Have the Best Designs: J.D. Power Study
According to the J.D. Power 2015 India Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study findings, Hyundai Elite i20 / i20 Active, along with Eon and i10 hatchbacks have received accolades among the eight model-level segment awards. Cars from Toyota that include Innova, Etios Liva/ Cross and Etios were also awarded in their respective segment. Other notable cars in the study included, XUV500, which ranked highest in the SUV segment and Volkswagen Vento that managed to take the pole position in the midsize car segment.
