2012 Audi A4 spotted on the roads of Mumbai

2012 Audi A4 was found undergoing the test rounds in Mumbai. This is quite a sight as not every day we get to see an overseas OEM model during testing on the Indian roads. Looks like there are going to be two launches in the luxury segment in the first half of 2012. BMW and Audi are going to have their next generation BMW 3 series and Audi A4 launch slated to take place around the same time. New generation Mercedes-Benz C Class was launched recently in India and with the two upcoming launches in the luxury segment, the luxury car market is expected to be flourishing with growth in sales.

More entrants in the luxury segment could lead to crossing the 20,000 unit sales a year barrier in the coming few years. According to an executive from Audi, the sales target for the company in India is set around 7,500, which is supposed to be high for any luxury brand like Audi. The number suggested by the auto major seems to be a little difficult for the Audi A4 or Audi Q3 crossover to reach.

Though the target seems to be unattainable, in case the German auto major manages to cross it; there is a high possibility for Audi to surpass Mercedes-Benz sales. Mercedes-Benz does not offer any crossovers at that price as of now in the luxury segment. The Audi A4 will have a 3.2 L FSI engine to replace the 3 L TFSI V6 engine in the outgoing model. The new engine keeps the capacity to churn out a peak power of 272 PS. The company has to work on Audi A4 price in order to lure the customers into buying the upcoming sedan.
