The all new Chevrolet Beat seems to have undergone quite a few changes in the interiors and the exteriors. The 2012 Chevrolet Beat is going to have an all-new fascia with redesigned headlamps, bumpers, grille, and rear lamps and expected to come integrated with a new set of LED brake lights. The interiors are also tweaked with a new LCD screen and an optional cruise control. The Chevrolet Beat also marketed as Chevrolet Spark in the overseas market is going to be incorporated with one of those ECOTEC petrol engine in the range of 1.0L – 1.5L displacement with three-four cylinder set-up. General Motors is aggressively developing the frugal ECOTEC engines, which it envisages to replace the current line-up of the petrol engine under the displacement of 1.8 L. The ECOTEC engines are being developed using the turbocharging technology, Direct Injection technology and twin-cam technology for a few of the versions. GM foresees to develop as many as 2 million of ECOTEC engines annually from various plants.

Another development has been made in terms of the electrically powered Chevrolet Beat, which General Motors hopes to introduce in the U.S and the other global markets by 2013. Globally, the Chevrolet Spark will be introduced as the Chevrolet Spark EV for its electrical variant. The electric motor is being developed by GM in association with PATAC (Pan-Asia Technical Automotive Center), Shanghai, after receiving feedback from the participants of the Chevrolet Electric demonstration from India, Shanghai and Korea. GM has however, did not announce the price for the electric version of Chevrolet Spark. Hopefully, the India bound model of the Chevrolet electric car will make it to the domestic market in 2013.
