As per EPA, the 2013 Honda Fit EV has the highest fuel efficiency rating in the history. Honda announced this news on Wednesday. With a combined rating of 118 MPGe and at a range of approximately 82 miles, the car is competent to beat the present electric cars like Ford Focus Electric, which has a 105 MPGe at 76 mile of range. The other cars that are below the Honda Fit EV in the EPA’s rating are Nissan Leaf with 99 MPGe at 73 mile of range and Mitsubishi i-MiEV with 112 MPGe at 62 mile of range. The estimation of EPA is that the car will have a running cost of only $ 500 per year.
Honda has incorporated a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery in the Fit EV that is capable to churn out 125 PS of power and provides a torque of 256 Nm to the vehicle. If the battery is depleted, it can be recharged in less than three hours with the help of a 240V rapid charger. The vehicle will be made available by the company on lease in the summer from selected Californian and Oregon markets.
