The next-gen Ford Figo and the débutante, Figo based compact sedan will feature the company's renowned voice control-SYNC audio system and AppLink connectivity. Under the 'One Ford' policy, the launch in Brazil is imminent (known as KA and KA+ in Brazil), while India will get the duo in 2015. The hatch has gone through radical changes sporting Ford's 'Kinetic design 2.0'; yes you are right Aston-Martin-esque-grille! On the inside, the pictures show that the vehicle features softer touch plastic and a Fiesta inspired central console. Mechanically, the vehicle will get new 1.0 liter ECOnetic petrol engine, while the diesel engine info is still cloudy.
Ford SYNC and AppLink
-
The company recently introduced the the upgraded SYNC and AppLink in the 2014 Fiesta facelift. The next-gen Figo and the new compact sedan will get this first-in-the-segment SYNC- voice controls and smartphone App integration feature. Here is the info of what it can do in a nutshell.
-
Ford's SYNC is a voice activated feature powered by Microsoft which controls various function of your mobile phone, air conditioning of your vehicle and several other features of your vehicle.
-
The SYNC connects your mobile to the car's audio unit for calling and audio streaming through Bluetooth.
-
AppLink is an App in your smartphone that co-works with the SYNC to give voice controlled hands-free operation of various function of your smartphone. Currently in India, AppLink offers only Map-My-India & ESPN Cricinfo and one global App Glympse integration through AppLink.
-
You can control navigation on Map-My-India and can get all the cricket updates on ESPN Cricinfo App without taking your hand-off the steering wheel.
-
The audio system will also offer other connectivity options like CD playback, USB and AUX-in; expect the sound output to be decent just like the current Figo.
-
The 2015 Figo will get multi-functional steering wheel rather than mounted controls in the on-going model.
-
Expect the 'Emergency Assistance' feature on the upcoming hatch and compact sedan duo. This safety feature automatically calls the emergency service '108' in case of any mishap.
