2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza Facelift Spied For The First Time

The Brezza’s petrol variant is likely to be introduced with the facelifted model

• Maruti Suzuki is likely to launch the Vitara Brezza facelift at the 2020 Auto Expo.

• The popular sub-4 metre SUV is expected to feature a petrol engine instead of the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel motor. 

• The petrol engine could be Maruti’s own 1.5-litre K15B with SHVS mild-hybrid technology. 

• It is likely to be offered with the choice of a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been the best-selling sub-4 metre SUV in India for some time now. The SUV is due a facelift, which has now been spied for the first time. While the current model is only offered with a diesel engine, the facelifted SUV will likely be a petrol-only offering as Maruti has decided not to update the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel unit to meet upcoming BS6 emission norms. The updated SUV is expected to be launched in February at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The petrol engine in question is likely to be Maruti’s own 1.5-litre K15B unit coupled with SHVS mild-hybrid technology. This engine is found in other Maruti models like the Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz where it can be had with the choice of a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed AT while producing 105PS of power and 138Nm of peak torque.

All of its sub-4m rivals already offer a petrol variant. Based on the spy shots, we can expect the updated Brezza to get a revised front end as well as slight tweaks to its rear design. Maruti is expected to update the SUV’s feature list as well and it could finally get a sunroof like most of its rivals.

The petrol-only Vitara Brezza facelift is expected to be priced between Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 11 lakh. It will continue to rival the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. Currently, none of its rivals are available with BS6 powertrains yet, so expect their prices to go up soon as well.
