Volkswagen India rolled out the 3,00,000th car from its Pune Plant on Monday, 5th August 2013. The car was a left hand drive version of Volkswagen Vento that will be exported to the AGCC market. With high quality production at Pune Plant, Volkswagen India is not only fulfilling the domestic demand, but also exporting cars to more than 30 countries across two continents – Asia and Africa.
Volkswagen set the next production landmark in its young history with the roll out of 3,00,000th car from its Pune Plant where the company has been manufacturing the Volkswagen Polo and Vento and Skoda Fabia and Rapid. The plant, whose construction began in 2007, was completed in a record time of 17 months and the first car rolled out from here in May 2009. In a period of just over four years, the plant has manufactured 3,00,000 cars for the domestic as well as the export markets.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Andreas Lauenroth said, “The roll out of the 3,00,000th car is indeed a matter of pride for us. The left hand drive Vento is a proof of the international quality products being manufactured at our plant in India. The Vento and Polo are being exported to over 30 countries from our facility in Pune. I would like to congratulate the entire team of Volkswagen India which has contributed greatly to achieve this landmark today.”
Mr. Mahesh Kodumudi, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited, said, “The Vento in itself is a milestone for Volkswagen in India. Though it was a car designed and built for India, it got wide acceptance in the international market as well and slowly grew to reach even the left-hand drive markets. Today, this car has achieved another milestone by being the 3,00,000thcar to roll out of Pune Plant.”
