Audi, BMW and Mercedes prepare for big fight in India

The segment of luxury cars is growing at a very good pace in the Indian market as all major players of this segment have been enjoying considerably high growth figures since the beginning of this year. Mercedes Benz, the largest luxury car maker in the Indian market, has been the biggest contributor to this high growth momentum as it has launched a series of new cars in the Indian market in the last few months.
According to a statement given by Mr Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO at Mercedes Benz India, to a leading news daily in the country, exciting products and exciting ways to showcase such products have been their constant endeavor. He added that company's initiatives in 2010 have been targeted at customers from large as well as medium and small cities.
On the other hand, the second largest luxury car maker in India, BMW is also planning aggressively to make the most of the ongoing high growth phase in the country. Going on the same line as its arch rival Mercedes , the company is mulling over to launch as many as 20 new car models in the Indian market in coming years. In next 4 to 5 years the company will have one car in each price segment of luxury cars. The company is leaving no stone unturned in marking its presence in every price segment.
With this, the third largest luxury car maker in the country, Audi India, is also planning to capture a significant market share in the luxury car segment of the country. The company is aiming to capture a market share of as much as 30 percent in the country by year 2011. According to a statement given by Mr Micheal Perschke, Audi India head, to the reporters, the company is looking at increasing its market share as well as focusing on profitability. He also added that India is a strategic market for the company and it is planning to come up with new showrooms in cities like Indore, Coimbatore, Surat, Ludhiana and Lucknow.
