Bagging the top position consecutively for the second time in a row BMW is in no mood to lose the top slot to anyone. The company is looking aggressive as far as the Indian auto market is concerned. Known for the class apart products the company offers, BMW recently added another luxury car to its portfolio. On 25th March the company unfolded BMW 6 Series Convertible at Udaipur. BMW has already set a benchmark in the luxury car segment in India and across the globe. The German auto giant is planning big for India and has a lot of new products in the pipeline. After the launch of BMW 6 Series Convertible the company also plans to bring the BMW 6 Series hard top to the Indian auto market.
The company is apparently all set to assemble BMW X3 in India by the end of April. The car is speculated to be affixed with x Drive (4WD system). Rumour has it that BMW will slash down the price of BMW X3 in order to give a tough time to its rivals. Along with BMW X3, the company might also start assembling BMW 7 Series in India by 2011-2012. However the price might stay intact of this super car.
With the increase in the CKD duty luxury car makers in India are a bit worried about their CKD operations in India. BMW is one of the luxury car maker which will be impacted by the decision. CKD is an essential part of its business in India, the German auto biggie might end up importing powertrains as a separate entity. Cars made under BMW's portfolio like X1 variants, select 3 series and 5 Series variants will witness a price hike due to the government's verdict on the CKD duty.
