Cars from larger segments are all the rage these days. Studies have shown that Indian consumers are becoming increasingly partial towards cars from luxury and utility segments. Capitalising on the same, it looks like German luxury automaker BMW is all set to launch its X7 seven-seater SUV. The luxury utility vehicle is expected to hit the streets of international markets sometime in 2018. We expect the Indian debut to happen post that in the same year.
As far as the development of the vehicle is concerned, one can deduce from the covered teaser image that the automaker is quite sure of the design and overall layout that it will offer. Details of the car’s design still remain a matter of speculation. BMW has also confirmed that the X7 will incorporate underpinnings from its 7-Series luxury sedan, which was launched at Auto Expo 2016 at a price tag of Rs. 1.1 crore. We expect the prices of this all-new utility vehicle to start in the ballpark of Rs. 70 lakhs.
In terms of engine options, the X7 will also incorporate a V12 motor, which will make its debut in the company's SUV range. This will be one of the most powerful SUVs that customers can buy.
What's uncanny is that even though the X7 is cheaper than the company’s flagship luxury sedan, the 7-Series, the interiors of the upcoming SUV are expected to be a lot more premium compared to that of the sedan. This flagship SUV from BMW’s X-range will go into production at its Spartanburg factory in South Carolina, United States, and we are hoping that a preview will make its way to us sometime next year or just before the X7’s launch. When launched, the X7 will rival the likes of Volvo XC90, Audi Q7 and others.
