Dodge has made a name for itself in the muscle car world with its legendary V8 engines and it its Challenger SRT Demon is amongst the fastest accelerating product

American carmaker Dodge has revealed that it will be launching an electric muscle car by 2024. The revelation came when its parent company Stellantis revealed its electrification strategy for the next decade. If nobody beats them to this deadline, Dodge could very well become the first carmaker to put an electric muscle car on the production line.

Also, instead of an EV, Dodge has decided to call it “eMuscle.”

Dodge is known for making muscle cars that are really good at straight line speed. It has the Challenger and the Charger in its lineup, the former being a two-door and the latter a four-door muscle car. While these cars come with multiple engine configurations, it is their big supercharged Hemi V8 engines that have proven the most  popular with customers. These V8’s are known for their blistering straight line performance, and in fact the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is amongst the fastest accelerating cars in the world, capable of doing the 0-96kmph (0-60mph) sprint in just 2.3 seconds!

That is why it might come as a surprise to people that Dodge is building an electric muscle car. However, the folks at Dodge have revealed that they have turned to electrification to increase performance. The engineers at Dodge believe that they have reached a saturation point with their internal combustion engines, and using electric power is the only way to keep delivering more performance.

Dodge has revealed a small clip of a concept of their upcoming electric muscle car. If you look closely, you can make out a long muscle car bonnet. A Fratzog logo, which was used on Dodge cars between 1962 and 1976, can be seen on the car. Dodge says they have used it as a nod to the future, to kick start another great era of their automotive journey.

As far as the specs are concerned, the electric muscle car will use the brand new STLA Large platform from Stellantis, which is capable of offering a range of around 800kms with an up-to-118kWh battery pack.
