Fiat Abarth 500 to Launch Next Month!

Fiat is finally launching the performance oriented 'Abarth' brand in India and their débutante product in the country – Abarth 500! The hatch was showcased at the Auto Expo in Feb and was bound to launch this year – voilà - its coming next month! The pricing of the Abarth 500 is expected to be under Rs. 25 lakh which makes it one of the most exciting hatches around!

Major competitor of this performance Italian hatch is the British quintessential - Mini Cooper S. According to the spyshots the hatch has already arrived at some dealership maybe for the training purpose. Moreover, Fiat will soon expand its Abarth range in the country – next product is expected to be the Punto EVO Abarth which is likely to be launched next year.

This spruced-up 500 is set to receive a 1.4 liter Fiat's T-JET turbo petrol, its beefed-up version of Linea's T-JET. Having said that, power is way above Linea's territory – Abarth 500 churns out 135hp at 5,500rpm and 206Nm of torque at 3000rpm – mated to a 5-speed manual unit. There's also an Abarth Competizione gearbox version (5-speed automated manual box) which gets power bump of 5hp making it 140hp @ 3000rpm while torque remains same. Top-whack is likely to be in excess of 200km/h! The Abarth 500 looks meaty, complimenting its performance quotient. To start with, it gets Abarth decals, Abarth badging, sporty bumpers; on the inside it gets leather-alcantara upholstery with contrasting stitching.
