Fiat to bring 'By 500 Diesel' to India

Italian car manufacturer Fiat said on Sunday that it is planning to launch its premium hatchback 'By
Diesel 500' in India. 'By Diesel 500' is a co-branded model of Fiat with European clothing firm Diesel. By bringing 'By Diesel 500' in India the company is looking to add more style statement to its portfolio.
Depending on customer feedback and orders we get, we can bring the co-branded 500 by February or March. It will be costlier than the normal '500' we are selling now in India, said Fiat India President and CEO Rajeev Kapoor. Fiat is presenting the 'By Diesel 500' at ongoing 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi.

Fiat had launched
Fiat 500, a super premium small car in India in year 2008 and at that time the model was priced around Rs 15 lakhs. The company has sold about 65 units of this model in India till now.
According to Mr Ravi G Bhatia, Fiat India vice-president (Commercial), the launch of 'By Diesel 500' in India will add more glamor, in tune with the European preference for making fashion statement, to Fiat's portfolio. The number of customers in India who want to make fashion statement is on the rise and the co-branded 500 will address those section of people, Mr Bhatia added.

Diesel 500' will be imported in India as a completely built up unit from Italy and it would take about two months to deliver it from the date of booking. The '500 by Diesel' was first introduced in year 2008 in partnership with Italian clothing brand Diesel with unique alloy wheels with rivets, 'Diesel' logos and metal inserts on bumpers. The model also has options for denim seats as well as a special 'Diesel' branded gear knob, with front seat side pockets like those of jeans trousers.
