Fiat to roll out 60,000 cars from Ranjangoan plant

Fiat, an Italian car manufacturer is all set to roll out 60,000 cars from its Ranjangoan plant located near Pune by the end of March 2011. During 2009-2010 company's production was 70,000 cars per year, but the global slowdown in 2009 affected its entire potential export to the Indian market with the decreasing sales.
Fiat's President and CEO Mr Rajeev Kapoor said that company is planning to introduce a small car with a price tag less then 4 lakh. Fiat is expecting that the model will pave a way for other products of the company in the country.
Besides this Fiat India launched two new petrol version of its Punto on 15th of March. While the 1.2 Fire Active is available with a price tag of 4.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the 1.2 Fire Emotion is coming with a price tag of Rs 4.87 lakh. In this competitive price the company is providing many new generation features in the car.
By launching these new variants of Fiat Punto in India, company is all set to acquire a good market base in India.
The Fiat Punto model is competing with popular hatchbacks including Hyundai i20, Maruti Swift and Volkswagen Polo. Fiat sold 1,500 units of its Punto model and the new variants will take this number to 2,5000 units. Besides this the Fiat Linea model will also be manufactured at Ranjangoan plant,
In 2010-11 the company is planning to launch more powerful 1.3 litre multijet diesel engine which will produce 90bhp and a high power of 1.4 litre petrol engine besides this the company is also working on to offer a 1.6 lite diesel engine in coming months.
