Ford India has officially detailed its upcoming premium SUV offering, the Ford Endeavour on their website. As we reported earlier, the car will be launching on 19th of January next year. The Fortuner-killer seven seater will find its foundations on Ford’s new ladder-frame platform, which it will share with company’s Ranger pickup truck. The SUV gets a complete exterior and interior overhaul. Ford has officially announced on its India website that Endeavour will be available in six variants, which will include two diesel models that will be available in both 4×2 and 4×4 drive types.
The powerplants will be available with an option of either an AT or a manual transmission. The prospective buyers will have an option between a city-trotting automatic premium SUV and a big beast that they may take offroading. The 2.2-litre diesel mill will be available in base models and will produce 160PS of power and 385Nm of peak torque. The 3.2-litre diesel mill will produce 200PS of power and 470 Nm of peak torque. This powerplant will only be available in the top-end models and in comparison to Chevrolet Trailblazer will fall short, as the Chevy produces 30Nm more torque.
Ford’s salvation is that its top-end model will be available in a 4X4 configuration whereas the Trailblazer only comes in an automatic 4X2 drivetrain. Endeavour is only available in Trend and Titanium trims and comes with features like ABS with EBD, 7 airbags, Traction Control System, Ford MyKey, projector headlamps, automatic headlamps, Electronic Stability Program, alloy wheels, Hill Launch Assist, Hill Descent Control, Emergency Assistance, ambient lighting, leather upholstery, power adjustable driver seat, rear parking sensor, Foglamps, automatic wipers, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, etc.
The instrument cluster displays a plethora of information, sourced from various driver assist systems. The car will be available in six colour schemes viz. Panther Black, Moondust Silver, Smoke Grey, Golden Bronze, Sunset Orange, and Diamond White.
