Ford shared several cutting edge technologies at the ongoing 2014 Computex Taipei, Asia's largest technology fair. The company also showcased the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang – which they claim is the "the smartest Mustang to date". Along with the Mustang, the 'Blue Oval' also showcased AppLink, V2V technology (vehicle to vehicle communication) and Emergency Assistance (for Taiwan).
Addressing at 2014 Computex, Trevor Worthington, Vice President, Product Development, Ford Asia Pacific, “It’s an exciting week for Ford here at Computex,” said Worthington. “With the all-new Ford Mustang, live demonstrations of our experimental vehicle-to-vehicle communications technology, and all of the cutting-edge tech and interactive displays at the Ford stand, Computex is a great example of how Ford is taking technology to the next level.”
All-new Mustang at 2014 Computex
The 'world's first fastback' will go global in 2015 with simultaneous launches in several countries. After the European breathtaking success – selling 500 cars in 30 seconds, at the 2014 Computex Ford declared that the new Mustang will go on sale next year in Taiwan. Ford is all set to rage a war against the sports car arena across the world with the new Mustang in 2015. The goodwill of the nameplate, its fan following and its world wide reach through the movies makes this pony car a well known machine! Ford says that the Mustang is coming with several technology on-board like second generation SYNC, Blind Spot Information System, Intelligent Access with push-button start/stop, rear view camera, adaptive cruise control, etc.
AppLink connectivity
Ford India introduced the AppLink technology in India last year with EcoSport along with China and Australia. At the ongoing Computex, Ford says that they will extend the AppLink technology in Taiwan, Thailand and New Zealand. The AppLink allows the users to access and operate mobile Apps through voice control. The AppLink is powered by the SYNC to make and receive calls, texts, audio playback and many more features using voice commands. The company is also open-sourcing its proprietary AppLink code to mobile App developers for more SYNC powered Apps.
V2V - Vehicle-to-vehicle communications technology
Ford also displayed its vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications technology at the 2014 Computex. The technology is still in experimental phase. The technology allows cars to communicate with each other through a Wi-Fi based radio system. Connected cars share the possible hazards, speeds, position, traffic conditions and a variety of other information to make driving safe and pleasurable. Along with the vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications Ford is also considering vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication as the future of mobility.
