The world global company is planning to recruit around 700 people for its two units, Ford India and Ford Global Business Services.
The demands for the passenger cars have decreased in the recent past but looking at the employee agitation the company has taken this decision. Dhananjay Nair, General Manager, Human Resources at Ford India said that to retain the employees is not an issue for the company because the attrition rate is 6 percent less than the half of the market. Ford India has invested about Rs 4,000 crore for its plant in Sanand, Gujarat where the plant and operations will be carried on. The company will be hiring 5,000 direct employees for this long time project which might increase in the workforce of 10,000 by 50%. The plant operations will start from the first quarter of 2014.
The hiring of the 45 graduates was done to provide aid to the manufacturing operations at Sanand, while rest of the hiring is for other functions like HR, finance, purchasing and IT. The Ford’s employability is very strong in Chennai and this is reason why the company has high hopes for the Sanand Plant. The company is also providing the training to the existing employees for the new project. Ford launched its new plant in Thailand and has sent a lot of managers from India to support the launch of this new plant.
