The long wait for the Ford EcoSport was finally over on June 26, 2013, when the company introduced the compact SUV at a very aggressive pricing of Rs. 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom. Delhi). The compact crossover received an overwhelming response from buyers across the nation, and the pre-orders were reached 30,000 mark in just 17 days, Incredible! Now, the Ford India says that the EcoSport compact SUV has managed to cross 40,000 bookings mark since its introduction.
The time has come when Ford dealers has stopped taking bookings for the compact crossover, in order to deliver the existing orders. The waiting period for the vehicle has reached up to 4-6 months, and still their is a huge demand for the vehicle. The impact of the EcoSport is quite evident by seeing that the company has recorded its India's first and second best sales month so far. Ford sold around 11,065 units in combined monthly domestic and exports in August as compared to 10,352 units in the same month last year.
Speaking at the annual convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in New Delhi, Dave Schoch, Ford group vice president and president of Asia Pacific said “What we’ve seen in India – with over 40,000 orders since the launch of the all-new EcoSport, and with the recent celebration of the 300,000th Figo – shows the incredible market demand for vehicles in these segments".
