Ford Kuga Spotted at ARAI

The launch of the much awaited crossover from the American auto giant Ford Motors is scheduled for early 2013. On the other hand, the Ford Endeavor SUV is all set to be treated with a huge facelift in the form of an absolutely new model. And the most interesting of all is the speculation of Ford introducing the Kuga crossover in India. Word is, a Ford Kuga was spotted at ARAI (Automobile Research Association of India) which is a government agency that certifies all new vehicles that are supposed to be introduced in the country. This situation seems very interesting and delighting for the Indian car market.

As reported before, Ford India has plans of rolling–out 8 brand new global products in India by 2015. The first one of the planned launches was of the Ford Fiesta sedan in 2011 and the 2013 launch of Ford EcoSport is expected to form the next big launch followed by the new Endeavor SUV.  In the coming years, the other significant launches could be of the Focus sedan, Ford Mondeo and entry level sub-Figo small car. This makes room for two other cars and Ford Kuga could be one hitting the India roads in near future. The Ford Kuga is expected to be positioned absolutely perfectly between the EcoSport and the Endeavor; the car is also expected to emerge as a tough competitor of the Mahindra XUV 500 and Skoda Yeti.

The 2013 version of the car that flaunts new styling, spacious interiors and more engine options, was recently showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. The engine options include 1.6L EcoBoost turbo petrol engine and also the 2.0L turbo diesel TDCI unit that is capable of producing two powers of 140bhp and 163bhp. In addition to the standard manual gearbox, the customers can get the engine coupled with optional PowerShift dual clutch automatic gearbox. Offered in both front and all wheel drive version, the ford Kuga SUV sports a host of features like parking aid Active Park Assist and a Blind Spot Information system that uses a sensor.

Coming back to the question of Ford Kuga traversing Indian roads, it cannot be perfectly said that this would happen as the car has only been spotted at ARAI and nothing has been officially revealed about the same by the company. Till some indication is provided by Ford India and the rumors are put to an end, we should keep our fingers crossed in the hope of the advent of this car in the country.
