Ford made world premier of the Figo compact sedan at the Indian Auto Expo in Feb. Well, the company has started testing it along with the hatch in Brazil. They also opened a dedicated micro-site of the new 'KA' AKA the 'Figo' stating “The Forthcoming Launch Of Global Ford Will Surprise You”. Both the cars are developed by the Ford Brazil like the Ecosport with inputs from Indian counterpart. The car will be known as 'KA' globally and will replace Figo in India. It is highly expected that the American manufacturer will step down the current hatch has 'Figo Classic' to make room for this premium offering. After the launch of the Figo based compact sedan the 'Classic' will be discontinued.

The Figo duo will be based on the EcoSport platform which is indeed based on the Fiesta underpinnings. The new Figo offers radically new design, the focal point of the whole package is the 'Aston Martin' grille (Hilarious, its like we have to mention 'Aston Martin grille' all the time in Ford nowadays, oh boy they look stunning!). There is no doubt that the Figo compact sedan concept is one of the best concepts that debuted in the Expo this year. Although there are no changes in the sheet metal, the overall glitzy details are diluted in the production version as guessed from the spied pictures. The best part is the overall design which has been retained – as we always say Ford's concept versions are nearly production ready.
The new hatch is more curvaceous and streamlined than the current masculine Figo. The new car ditched the Christmas tree tail lamps with a smarter wrap around ones. A little what the world know about the interiors, but they supposed to be inspired from EcoSport. The sedan will be sharing bits and pieces with the hatch just like the Xcent did with the Grand i10. When the sedan will be launched it will be rivaling against the Xcent, Amaze, Dzire and Zest.
Speaking of the engines, the sibling duo will probably get the EcoBoost powerplant along with the 1.5 liter TDCI motor. If the sedan gets the 1.0 liter EcoBoost with the dual clutch power shift than it would be the pick of the lot. The new Figo hatch will get the desired premium factor which the current car is lacking. Expect the same powertrains for the hatch also. The new cars might enter in late 2014 or in the first quarter of 2015, although it is not certain which will enter first.
