Honda Brio to be priced below Rs. 5 lakhs

The Japanese automaker Honda has announced that they will bring more vehicles to mount up their sales numbers in India as the numbers have not been impressive for Honda in one of the fastest growing markets. The company is planning to launch a small compact car of 1200 cc named Honda Brio which would be priced below 5 lakhs. The company expects Brio to be a key player for Honda's market share increase in India.

However, the company officials have refused to confirm regarding the matter, Honda is also planning to bring a sedan version of the car in long term.

Honda Motors, global president and CEO, Takanobu Ito stated at Thailand International Motor Expo at the prototype unveiling of Honda Brio that India is a crucial market from Honda's point of view. He added that Motorization in India is on boom and Honda will like to make its significant presence with Honda Brio in the domestic market. Honda Brio is specially designed to meet the Asian conditions and will be launched in Thailand and India by next year. Honda has been selling premium cars in India but have failed in the domestic market which has contributed more than 30% growth in this financial year. Honda's figures have raised by 3% in this fiscal.

Moreover, Honda is also planning to bring Honda Civic in a new look. Codenamed 2HC, the model will be a complete next generation model. Looks of New Honda Civic will not be its unique selling proposition but its futuristic and well equipped interiors will make its presence worthier. The car is inspired from CR-Z and will get a hybrid powertrain as well. This hybrid powertrain can be bought either with automatic and manual transmission. This upgraded model is expect to lead the domestic market head to head with Toyota Corolla Altis, New Skoda Laura, Volkswagen Jetta and Chevrolet Cruze.

At present, Honda manufactures petrol cars and is looking ahead to come with its diesel vehicles by next year. Also the demands of diesel vehicles is mounting day by day and with this Honda will like to showcase itself on front foot. The diesel variant of Honda CR-V is expected to be launched in the domestic market by 2012.
