Honda denies plan to bring Brio diesel in 2012

Few days back we brought you a stroy about Honda planning to bring the Brio diesel variant in 2012. But, it looks like it is not going to happen anytime soon. Honda Seil Cars India officially stated that the compay is not planning to bring in the Honda Brio diesel at least in 2012. The previous rumors went to an extend that Honda Brio might come with 1.2 litre of diesel engine and will be sold alongside the petrol version of this hatchback. But with the latest announcement coming from Honda India dampens the wish of numerous Honda fanatics, who were pretty excited about the new i-DTEC diesel engine that the firm is pretty high on.

Of late, Honda introduced 1.6 litre i-DTEC diesel motor that churns out high power, torque along with superior fuel economy that the consumers will see in the 2012 Honda Civic. This engine is the very first of the new generation i-DTEC diesel engines that the company is busy developing. With sad news of not bringing Honda Brio in diesel versionin 2012, Honda Seil Cars India gave good news that by the month of March this year, the firm is expected to resume its full production of both Jazz and Brio, which are currently in extremely high demand.

In 2011, Honda gave its hatchback, Honda Jazz a facelift accompanied with price repositioning whereas Honda Brio was launched as an entry level model. Production of both these hatchbacks was affected badly because of unfortunate floods in Thailand. Since the production at Honda India’s manufacturing plant has dipped, only its prominent sedan, Honda City was being produced that too in small quantities. But, now the firm has pulled up its socks and is all set to resume its full production by March 2012.
