The WagonR 1.2L AMT has a claimed fuel economy figure of 20.52kmpl
The Maruti WagonR is among the most popular cars in its segment in India in terms of buyer demand. It’s available with two petrol engine options -- 1.0L and 1.2L -- both of which are available with a manual gearbox as well as an AMT. We recently tested the WagonR 1.2L with AMT and noted the mileage it delivered per litre of fuel. Here are the numbers:

1.2-litre |
Max power |
83PS |
Peak torque |
113Nm |

Tested fuel efficiency (city) |

Tested fuel efficiency (highway) |

14.77kmpl |
16.52kmpl |
13.35kmpl |
The real-world fuel efficiency results reveal that the WagonR 1.2L is not as fuel efficient as Maruti claims. This is quite expected since the claimed figures are recorded under controlled conditions.
If you drive mostly in the city, expect the WagonR AMT to return somewhere around 13kmpl over a longer duration. The figure can drop lower if you have to negotiate your way through dense traffic often. On the other hand, if your daily routine involves a route that is relatively empty and where you can cruise at a steady speed, you can expect the overall fuel efficiency figure to go up to 16kmpl.
Your findings may vary from ours as fuel efficiency differs with driving conditions, car condition and driver behaviour too. If you’re an existing WagonR 1.2L AMT owner, do share your findings in the comments section below.
