Hyundai, the auto giant from South Korea has always been an ace when it comes to innovating engine technology especially for the diesel engines. Years back, Hyundai launched the Accent CRDI with the 1.5L, three-cylinder common rail turbo diesel engine. With that, Hyundai registered a place among the first automakers who introduced the much efficient common rail diesel engine in the Indian car market. Hyundai has also introduced direct injection turbo petrol engine and many more new-generation turbo diesel engine in its cars for both the Indian car market and the other auto markets abroad.

Hyundai has added the 1.2-liter T-GDi Kappa engine to its global portfolio. This newest turbo petrol engine holds a significant importance in the Indian car market since it is anticipated to be housed in the Hyundai cars that fall in the B and C segment. The Hyundai i20 Fluidic hatchback is most likely to receive this newfangled extremely efficient engine. As indicated by the name, the T-GDi Kappa engine is turbo charged and has a displacement of 1,248cc. This engine features direct injection and variable valve technology and runs a DOHC, 4-valves per-cylinder layout. The power of this engine is expected to be much higher as compared to the power output of 80BHP of the existing 1.2L Kappa VTVT engine. Volkswagen has its 1.2-liter TSI turbo petrol engine and Ford has 1 liter EcoBoost turbo petrol engine which is already leading the class of this kind of engines. The new 1.2-liter T-GDi engine is expected to be highly fuel efficient ensuring great performance and driving experience. The tail pipe emissions are also expected to be outstandingly low at less than 110gms of CO2 per kilometer.
