The SUV receives a host of styling tweaks and an updated feature list

Japanese carmaker Nissan launched the facelifted Terrano in India today at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This starting price is exactly the same as the pre-facelift model. Nissan says that it has added 22 new features to spark a new life into its only SUV currently on sale in the country.

On the outside, the updated Terrano is hard to distinguish from its predecessor, since the changes are negligible. Highlights include a tweaked front grille, turn indicators on ORVMs (which are now electrically foldable) and a new body colour option - Sandstone Brown, though, these changes were introduced in October last year, when the Terrano AMT was launched. Inside the cabin, there is a new black-brown upholstery theme, new dual-tone fabric upholstery for the seats with a matching colour scheme for the door pads and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The steering wheel has been updated too and now features cruise control buttons and audio controls behind the steering wheel. Previously introduced features like the one-touch lane change indicator, anti-pinch driver side power window and a driver’s armrest have been carried forward too. What’s really surprising is that Nissan has omitted the rear air-conditioning from the Terrano’s recipe.

The engines remain unaltered. Customers have a choice between a 1.6-litre petrol mill or a 1.5-litre diesel. The petrol engine is currently available only in the XL variant and is tuned to pump out 104PS of power and 145Nm of torque. The diesel motor, however, is available in two states of tune. While the less powerful state of tune (85PS/200Nm) comes with the XE and XL (O) variants, the most powerful of the entire range (110PS/248Nm) is offered only in the XV MT trim. The XV AMT variant has the same engine but produces 3Nm less torque than the XV MT diesel. This means that the performance figures (acceleration and fuel-economy) will remain the same as before.

The updated Terrano renews its rivalry with the Honda BR-V, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Safari Storme, Hyundai Creta and its close sibling, the Renault Duster. Here’s the variant-wise difference in price-list (ex-showroom Delhi):

Variants Old Prices New Prices
XE D Rs 9,99,000 Rs 9,99,000
XL P Rs 9,99,000 Rs 9,99,000
XL D (O) Rs 11,78,000 Rs 11,92,000
XV D Pre 110 PS Rs 13,35,000 Rs 13,60,000
XV D PRE 110 PS AMT Rs 13,95,000 Rs 14,20,000
