Breaking the silence over its first ever compact SUV, TUV 300, Mahindra has announced to officially launch it on 10th September, 2015. Mahindra TUV's price is expected to fall in the 7-8 lac price bracket. The compact utility car is slated to be launched from the manufacturer's Chakan Plant, based in Maharashtra. TUV 300’s price is expected to fall in the 7-8 lac price bracket. As no official word has been released by the company, any estimation of TUV 300’s price is speculative. Mahindra TUV 300 has been made from scratch and in-house at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai.
Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), M&M Ltd said that “The TUV 300 is one of the most eagerly anticipated launches of this year. Signifying a true ‘Make-in-India’ product, the design of the TUV300 is inspired by a battle tank. We are confident that this product launch will create excitement in the market as well as amongst our customers”.
The car will be powered by a 1.5 litre mHawk 80 diesel motor, 80 probably denoting the power output. As Mahindra defines the appearance, it is said to be influenced from an armoured tank and carries the squared off-cues. Other design features include large windows, short front and rear overhangs that give this sporty appeal. We can expect this car to look good as few design inputs have been incorporated from leading design firm Pininfarina.
With the introduction of the TUV 300, Mahindra aims to establish itself as a full-fledged SUV manufacturer by introducing one car in every SUV segment. The TUV 300 will be competing with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Maruti S-Cross and Hyundai Creta.
