The much awaited launch of the Maruti Ertiga MPV is around the corner. On April 11, Maruti Suzuki India would be rolling out Ertiga in both petrol and diesel versions with three variants each. The Maruti Ertiga does complete justice to the name MPV. This new car is adequately spacious with three rows seats perfectly capable of seating seven people comfortably with good shoulder support, legroom and headroom. The boot can easily accommodate two bags. Both the third and the middle rows can be folded in case more boot space is required. The exteriors of the MPV narrate a fresh story with the headlights sweeping backwards and fog lights with enclosures. The bumper gets big air duct and the front grille is slim and very Ritz like. The rear end is simple with medium-sized taillights.

Out of the three variants of both petrol and diesel versions, only the base model of the petrol version did not get the ABS rest all come affixed with it. The top-end models of both petrol and diesel version are equipped with airbags for both the driver and passenger. The trim-variants are all missing on the climate control feature. The Maruti Ertiga is powered with a new 1.4-liter petrol engine from the K-series of Maruti engines. This engine pumps out a max power of 93.7 BHP at 6000 RPM and a max torque of 13.26kgm at 4000 RPM. The other engine that Maruti Ertiga uses is the 1.3-liter turbo diesel engine that is sourced from Fiat and is currently used in the Maruti SX4 sedan. This engine drives a peak power of 88.8BHP at 4000 RPM and a peak torque at 1750 RPM.

The Maruti Ertiga uses a car-like monocoque chassis instead of the body-on-frame construction and thus is expected to give a car-like feel to the drive and not MPV-like. The Maruti Ertiga is wide on inside without looking huge on the outside like other MPVs. The car has a very harmonious and refined design. The car is expected to be fuel efficient and would be priced in the competitive bracket of Rs. 7-9 lakh.
