Maruti Suzuki India is vigorously testing the Ritz facelift test mule in India; the story is different in Japan where the parent company of MSI, Suzuki has wired the images of the revamped version on its official site. While the Indian launch of the facelift version is on the brink, Japan has to wait another month to see the car on streets. The bag and baggage of Ritz is just slightly improved, with the exteriors getting fragment of improvement in the hood, bumper, grille, wheels, and tailgate. Like the exteriors, the changes in the cabin are also minimalistic.
Maruti Suzuki is not going to make any changes in the artillery of the new Ritz, the only significant change is that the VVT technology has joined the board of the 1.2L K-series engine. As a result, petrol fuel powered Ritz is going to churn 86 BHP peak power at 6000 RPM and torque yield of 114 Nm at 4500 RPM. Although the difference is miniscule, 2Bhp and 1 Nm over the non VVT equipped motor, but that miniscule difference makes the Ritz all the way more drive friendly in city conditions. Maruti will leave the diesel variant of Ritz untouched albeit the company can make use of plastic fuel tanks to lower down the weight and enhance the fuel economy.
The tidbits of changes incorporated in Ritz are aimed to fill in the time space; the new model will arrive in the year 2014. The next gen Ritz is going to use the tried and tested platform of all new Swift hatchback. The cabin too will give you a déjà vu feeling as it is massively inspired from new Swift. Maruti is likely to roll out a automatic transmission version for the petrol variant whereas the diesel version is going to get feature rich.
