Maruti Suzuki Young Driver Contest Receives 21000 Registrations

Maruti Suzuki Autocar Young Driver Contest 2012 has got good response in its fourth season this year with 21000 registrations received from youngsters in the age group of 18-30 yrs. The contest has garnered 6900, 6100, 5800 and 2300 registrations in the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern regions of the country respectively. Seeing the contest's popularity since its inception in the year 2009, two new categories have been added this year. One is exclusively for women, and second for corporates to encourage their young employees towards safe driving.

Through the contest, Maruti Suzuki promotes and inculcates safe driving habits amongst the youth who in turn involve the larger society in making roads safer for everyone. Youth from various regions – urban as well as rural, participate to showcase their driving skills. Speaking on the occasion, Mayank Pareek, COO - Sales & Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said that this year's response shows that the awareness regarding road safety has increased amongst the youth. Maruti Suzuki has taken many initiatives to spread awareness about road safety and safe driving. The Young driver contest is an initiative that will help make driving an enjoyable experience for those behind the wheels.

The online registration process closed on the 8th June, 2012. In the process of selection, the first stage is the online driving skill test. Those who qualify the online test will enter the next stage of a theory and practical test at one of the Maruti Driving Schools. This test will be conducted across 110 Maruti Driving Schools across 65 cities from June 13th -30th, 2012. The finalists will be called at the state of the art Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR), New Delhi The winner of Maruti Suzuki-Autocar Young Driver contest will become the ‘Safety Ambassador’ to promote safe driving and also win the grand prize 'Maruti Suzuki A-Star'.
