Mercedes-Benz is on a rampage and has brought all of its best products from it’s standard and AMG range to India. And now it is time for yet another. Mercedes-Benz India will launch the new Mercedes-AMG SLC43 in India on July 26. The new car will be India’s introduction to the newly launched 43-spec AMG cars and will also be the replacement to the SLK model range. The new SLC will also be the cheapest AMG offering in India and is expected to be priced around the Rs 1 Crore price point.
As we mentioned earlier, the SLC is the erstwhile replacement for the SLK and is a two seater convertible sports car with a metal folding roof design. Although the basic design has stayed the same, Mercedes-Benz has made the SLC look manly and aggressive enough to take on its competition like the Audi TT and the BMW Z4. At the rear, the signature AMG exhaust treatment in the bumper makes an appearance here too with a quad exhaust setup. The metal folding roof itself was first introduced by Mercedes-Benz in the 90’s with the original SLK and the new one even gets a glass panel or Magic Sky Control that lets you choose the opacity of the glass itself.
Coming to the engine, the SLC43 replaces the old naturally aspirated V8 with a more modern twin-turbo V6 that makes 367PS of peak power and 520Nm of peak torque. The new engine is not only more powerful but also a lot more efficient than the V8 it replaces. The SLC43 comes standard with the 9-speed dual clutch gearbox that gets paddle shifters. You could also opt for a ‘handling package’, which gives you a mechanical limited slip differential for the rear axle.
The Mercedes-AMG SLC43 will add to the ever growing AMG lineup in India and is expected to be a car that appeals to a range of buyers due to it’s overall appeal. It is a capable sportscar and yet due to its smaller dimensions could be easily driven on a day to day basis around a crowded city like Mumbai or Delhi.
