Mercedes-Benz will launch a powerful diesel version of its E-Class - E 350 CDI BlueTEC tomorrow at its manufacturing facility in Chakan Pune. The new E 350 CDI will join the existing E Class trims – E200 (2.0L petrol trim) and E250 CDI (2.1L diesel) along with an AMG variant - E63 AMG with 5.5-litre V8 petrol. The new E350 gets lot of Merc's pampering on-board like the array of assist features including Lane Keeping Assist, Cross Traffic Assistant, blind spot warning along with other add-ons. Price of this new variant is expected to be a tad over the existing E Class diesel trims.
Speaking about the changes, the E350 CDI is likely to be the top-end variant in the 'E' Class portfolio expect subtle changes inside out. It will be premium compared to current trims, some added safety features would be Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control with Steering Assist, Adaptive high-beam lights, pedestrian recognition, blind parking and automatic parking, etc. Also expect an updated infotainment system along with new upholstery.
The new addition in the diesel trim gets a powerful 3.0 liter V6 Bi-turbo. The oil burner belts out 262bhp of max power and a blistering 620Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to 7-speed dual clutch '7G-Tronic Plus' gearbox, retained from the current models of the E-Class. This setup propels the saloon from naught to 100km/h in 6.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of 250km/h.
