There is no secret that Mercedes-Benz is planning to bring in a competitive compact crossover, At the start of production of the A-Class at company's Rastatt plant in Germany a couple of months back, Dr Dieter Zetsche-CEO said,“The compact SUV will be the third model we will build here in Rastatt.”

The car is going to be made on the all new MFA (modular front architecture) platform. A total five new models were said to be built on the similar platform, out of which A-Class, B-Class and CLA- Class are already there, while the Baby CLS, compact shooting brake estate are yet to come.
B-Class is making its Indian debut on 18th September, CLA too is expected to come by 2014, so as the GLA compact SUV as the luxury compact SUV segment is on rise in India. The Compact SUV is expected to be badged as GLA and likely to be carrying both front and four-wheel drive options. And as per word on the street, the engine options will include one petrol turbo (94bhp to 208bhp) and three diesel engines ranging from 81bhp to 134bhp.
