Mercedes-Benz to Launch 5 new Products in India

Mercedes-Benz India seems aggressive with its strategies, and aiming to regain its lost market share. The German auto manufacturer will introduce 5 new models in the Indian auto market. The company will launch the GL Class on 16th May, followed by B Class diesel and A Class hatchback. The GLA compact SUV and CLA 4 door coupe will hit the Indian shores later. The German manufacturer is now more focusing on compact cars to grow its geographical footprints and target younger customers in markets. The company aims to reach younger buyers along with its traditional and business class. Mercedes-Benz is utilizing an all-new engineering strategy to make product affordable in what could be a mass volume segment in future.

Mercedes Benz CLA

Mercedes-Benz A-Class will be available in both petrol and diesel guise. However, it is quite early to comment on the pricing of the luxury hatchback, we expect it to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh. The company plans to have its entire compact range introduced in the Indian car market by 2015. The premium car-maker expects that the compact cars will consist of 40 per cent of total company's sales, which is currently stood at 20 per cent.

Mercedes Benz Concept A Class

The German car manufacturer also plans to increase the local productions to price its products competitively for the Indian auto market. Mercedes-Benz expects that the luxury automobile segment will grow to 280,000 units by 2020 from the approximately 30,000 units today. In order to increase its localization, the company has already allocated Rs 850 crore for expansion of its Chakan plant. The production capacity of this plant will increase to 20,000 units per year, and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
