  • MG’s full size SUV will likely be equipped with comforts like ventilated seats, driving modes and locking differentials.

  • MG Gloster is expected to launch soon with prices likely to be north of Rs 40 lakh.

The MG Motor lineup in India is about to expand soon with a new flagship SUV. It was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 as the Gloster and has been officially teased as well since then. The full-size MG SUV has now been spied arriving at dealerships, showing us a few more details of its cabin.

The Gloster’s cabin features a large touchscreen infotainment system (probably a 12-inch unit as in the Australian model) with a TFT full-colour display in the instrument cluster. Its dashboard design seems to be inspired by BMW SUVs, including the air vents, climate controls and the central console tunnel. Based on the spy shot of the console, the Gloster’s feature list will include ventilated seats, driving modes, electronic parking brake and a rear differential lock.

MG’s teaser for the Gloster revealed that it would be packed with some radar-based driver assistance systems too, such as adaptive cruise control and front collision avoidance systems. It will also offer goodies like semi-autonomous parking assist and lane keeping assist. Most of these features will be offered for the first time in the segment.

The full-size SUV was spied in a white exterior paint option for an understated look despite its road presence. It can also be seen sporting dual-exit exhaust tips with its name’s letters across the bottom of the boot lid.

The Gloster is a three-row ladder-on-frame SUV and will be offered with the option of four-wheel-drive. The spied mule likely features captain seats in the middle row which is not common in this segment. It is expected to be offered with 2.0-litre turbo petrol and twin-turbo diesel engines with automatic transmissions. In its global spec, the petrol engine makes 224PS/350Nm mated to a 6-speed AT while the diesel has an output of 218PS/480Nm with an 8-speed AT.

MG will launch the Gloster in India by Diwali 2020 with prices likely to range between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh. It would be taking on the likes of the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
