The Gloster, sold as the Maxus D90 and LDV D90 in markets like China and Australia, will be MG Motor’s flagship SUV in India. With the carmaker confirming that it will be launched around Diwali 2020, select dealerships have started accepting unofficial pre-launch bookings for the SUV for around Rs 1 lakh. However, there’s no confirmation as yet regarding the commencement of the official pre-launch bookings for the Gloster.
While only the exterior of the SUV was revealed at Auto Expo 2020, recent spy shots give us a glimpse of what the interior will look like in the production-spec Gloster. It is seen sporting a BMW-esque dashboard design in a dual-tone layout, including the air con vents and climate controls. Other expected feature highlights are a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, and a 360-degree camera.
MG recently teased the autonomous tech that will be offered on the Gloster. This includes adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. If you wish to know more about it in detail, head here.
Under the hood, the full-size MG SUV is likely to get 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and twin-turbo diesel engines. The output figures of the two engines are expected to stand at 224PS/350Nm and 218PS/480Nm respectively. As seen on the international variants of the Gloster, the India-spec SUV could come with a 6-speed AT paired to the petrol and an 8-speed ZF automatic coupled with the diesel. Globally, the Gloster also comes with a 4WD system and multiple driving modes.
The Gloster is expected to be priced from Rs 30 lakh onwards (ex-showroom) and will fight it out with the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and VW Tiguan Allspace, and Skoda Kodiaq Petrol.
