MG Hector Interior: In Pics

A 10.4-inch vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system dominates the Hector’s cabin and offers various connected car features

MG Motor has launched the Hector at an introductory price of Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). Here’s a look at its interior in 17 images.

Inside the cabin, the Hector get an all-black treatment which lends it a sporty look. While the upper part of the dashboard looks plasticy, it features leatherette in the centre. 

Complementing the all-black cabin are these silver inserts present around the AC vents and on the doors. 

The Hector gets a leather-wrapped, flat bottom, multi-function steering wheel. 

The left spoke features controls for the 7-inch MID and cruise control.

The right spoke houses gets controls for the music system and Bluetooth telephony.

The 10.4-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system has to be the highlight of the Hector’s cabin. It not only offers features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto but also supports AI-powered voice commands, display for the 360-degree camera as well as a tyre pressure monitoring system. MG will also offer the iSMART application that allows users to control the AC, door lock/unlock, tailgate and even open and close the sunroof via your smartphone. The 10-4-inch infotainment system on the Hector is coupled to a premium sound system from Infinity. It comprises of four speakers, four tweeters, a subwoofer and an amplifier. The Harrier, on the other hand, gets a music system tuned by JBL and gets the same amount of speakers.  

The variant visible in the picture is the one with a manual transmission. The Hector is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission with both petrol (1.5-litre turbocharged) and diesel (2.0-litre) engine options. MG is also offering a dual-clutch automatic transmission with the Hector, but it is limited to the petrol engine. 

The centre console features buttons for auto start stop (only in hybrid variant), 360 degree camera and electronic parking brake.  

The Hector comes with a manual day/night IRVM instead of an auto dimming unit. The Harrier also misses out on this. However, the Creta, which is from a segment below, gets an auto dimming IRVM.

The Hector comes with an analogue instrument cluster with a conventional layout. It features a 7-inch MID screen flanked by the speedometer on the left and a tachometer on the right. 

The Hector is equipped with powered front seats. However, where the driver’s seat is 6-way adjustable, the co-passenger seat can be adjusted in four ways.

The Hector is equipped with various segment-first features, including reclining rear seats. 

The Hector is equipped with a large panoramic sunroof like its rivals such as the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson. 

The Hector comes with floor-mounted rear AC vents. Below the AC vents sits a 2A charging socket along with a nifty space to keep your mobile phone. 

The Hector features a flat floor in the middle row. This should make the Hector’s rear seat a more comfortable place for three occupants to sit abreast. 

The Hector gets a massive boot space of 587 litres, which is 162 litres more than the Harrier’s.
