M&M is building new SUV from scratch

Mahindra is venturing into foreign markets seriously. It is now building a brand new SUV right from scratch which will be geared towards western markets. This indigenous project has asked Mahindra for investments of Rs 700-800 crores.

Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive Division, M&M said that the all new SUV will be built at company’s plant in Maharashtra. Mahindra lost their battle with Tata Motors in acquiring Jaguar and Land Rover. It has now taken up the challenge to build its own global brand christened as Global SUV.

The first model of SUV is expected to be diesel model which will be priced around Rs. 10 lakh. The new model will be available in India as well. The brand new SUV will be a crossover model with platform borrowed from a passenger car and the looks of an SUV.
