'More Elite' Euro Spec Hyundai i20 shows its richer interiors!

Hyundai reveals entire details of the European specification of new i20 before its public debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show next month. However, the Korean major has already launched new i20 in India christened as 'Elite i20' before it's European launch. Adding in this context, the Euro Spec gets opulent features and chic interiors compared to Elite i20 that we are getting and it is slightly longer too!

Features like bi-function headlamps with LED daytime running lights and static bending, panoramic sunroof,heated steering wheel, automatic defog system and dashboard-integrated seven-inch satellite navigation system are on offer. On the safety front, it gets standard six airbags (front, side and curtain), front and rear parking assist, lane departure warning system along with standard Hill Start Assist control and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) make Euro spec i20 model apart from Indian Elite.

Moreover, the European i20 is also long at 4035mm in Length compared to Elite i20 which is 3985mm, although wheelbase remained same (2570mm) its the boot space which has to be compromised in Elite i20 – 285 liters while the European i20 gets 326 litres of boot space. It also features 9 dapper shades - Baby Elephant and Polar White (solid); Mandarine Orange, Iced Coffee, Sleek Silver and Star Dust (metallic); Aqua Sparkling, Phantom Black and Red Passion (pearl). While the interiors get fabric and leather upholstery along with contrasting dashboard shades.

Thomas Bürkle, Chief Designer at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe, stated, “The bold and distinctive volume of the new i20 gives the car a unique personality, which is underlined by the premium look of the headlamps and rear combi lamps. For example, the concave element below the rear lamp expresses the 3 dimensional and sculptural aspect of the Hyundai design language.”

Mechanically, Euro Spec i20 gets four engine option unlike Elite i20 which features just two engine. On offer in Europe will be 1.2 lite Kappa petrol engine in two state of tune 74bhp (75PS) and 82.9bhp (84PS) both the version produce 122Nm of max torque. A 1.4 liter naturally aspirated petrol is also on offer producing 98.6bhp (100PS) and 134Nm of torque. On the diesel front, Euro spec i20 gets 1.1 liter U2 CRDI producing 74bhp (75PS), 180Nm of torque while a more powerful 1.4 liter CRDI belts out 88.8bhp and 240Nm of max torque. Speaking of the transmissions, it gets 5 and 6-speed manuals and a 4-speed AT.
