Nissan to open separate showrooms for Datsun; 2014 Sunny and GO+ coming

Nissan has planned a separate route for its subsidiary brand Datsun from this fiscal year; the company will shortly start opening new dealership for Datsun within the forthcoming six to seven month. By the next three years' the Japanese auto maker expect for a completely separate dealership outlets for the two brands – Nissan and Datsun. "The Datsun brand is currently sold from Nissan showrooms but within this fiscal you may see separate showrooms for the Datsun," Nissan India Operations President Kenichiro Yomura told PTI. Datsun was revived nearly after three decades of sleep last year in New Delhi.
The company also expanded the spare warehouse in Chennai; the new facility in Chennai is 4.8 lakh sq ft. The manufacturer is also planning to setup two new small spare warehouses in northern and western region which along with the one in Chennai will cater the needs of the entire country. The company wants to offer best possible hassle free customer experience possible to its customers and buyers. The two, northern and western distribution centers will have an area of 15,000 sq ft. "We have inaugurated a distribution center for spare parts which has an area of 4.8 lakh sq ft in Chennai. We are following a hub and spoke model and will set up two smaller centers in North and West India within a year," told Yomura.
Nissan is also on rampage to increase the dealership coverage in India, the company currently have 130 dealers. By the end of this year the manufacturer will make it to 200 mark. "The aim is to have a total of 300 showrooms by the end of March 2017," Yomura added.
Datsun débutante model GO landed in March this year with a price tag of Rs 3.12 lakh for the base and goes up to 3.70 lakh for the top end. Datsun nearly sold 2690 units of GO in the month of April while they sold 2068 in launching month, March.
The upcoming product is the MPV based on the GO platform christened as GO+. Datsun showcased the GO+ at the Indian Auto Expo this year. GO+ will share the petrol powertrain with the hatch sibling.
Talking of Nissan, the mid-life refresh of Sunny sedan showcased at the Expo, is expected to land somewhere in September. The car will carry the same set of engines which are powering the current one along with the transmissions.
