Nissan's Micra to launch in 2010

Nissan Motors again claimed that its small car will be launched in India in early 2010. The company assured that its India plans are on track and everything is as scheduled. Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Nissan Motors India's Managing Director and CEO said that the company's first car would be the Micra hatchback. The Micra is known as March in Japan and the India version will be christened either Micra or March. It is to be mentioned that the company had earlier announced that it aimed to roll out 4 to 5 models in next five years in Indian market. Among it the first car will be launched in the next year i.e. 2010.  Renault, French auto major, put on hold indefinitely its plans to launch cars in the Indian market from the upcoming Chennai plant. Now the company is looking forward to improve market. However,  Nissan, the other partner of the company, is determined to roll out its cars as scheduled in 2010. Renault already stopped hiring for production activities in its Chennai plant. The company is setting up a new manufacturing unit in Oragadam near Chennai in association with the French auto maker Renault.
