Porsche plans to shed manual transmission in Porsche Panamera due to low sales

According to recent development in world auto industry, German car giant is planning to remove the manual transmission in its Porsche Panamera models due to low sales figures of the car. It is worth mentioning that BMW recently announced the addition of Manual transmission option in its upcoming BMW M5 sedan car. Porsche Panamera was first showcased in May, 2009 at Shanghai Motor Show in China. One of the most versatile Porsche cars, Porsche Panamera is a five-door, four-seat luxury sedan with a coupe design and a rear hatch. This German car comes affixed with V8 engine under the hood which is capable of generating 500HP.

As per sources, the reports of Porsche planning to shed the manual transmission is going to put an adverse effect on BMW’s announcement, as this indicates that the manual system was not taken well by the consumers. However, the main reason behind Porsche’s move is the low sales figures of Porsche Panamera in the United States.Furthermore, undisclosed sources said that owing to the sudden drop in sales of the manual transmission for the existing Prosche Panamera in the U.S., the future generation Porsche cars from company factory may roll out affixed with only the PDK automatic transmission.

As for now, no official announcement has been released by Porsche which in turn indicates that German car maker is still seeking further options on the issue. Company is expected to make the announcement anytime soon. Additionally, company also intends to incorporate an electronic power steering in its Porsche Panamera model so as to improvise the fuel efficiency by 1-2%.
