It has been quite some time now, since the Indian car market is anticipating the launch of the Renault Duster SUV. Very recently news had hit the web, according to which the French auto maker has decided to roll-out the car in July this year, probably on the 4th of July. Some more details about the same have surfaced which reveal that the car will be made available in six variants in all that would include 2 petrol variants and 4 diesel ones.
The engine doing duty in the Duster Diesel is the 1461cc engine that churns out a peak power of 85PS at the rate of 3750rpm in the RxE and RxL variants and 110PS at the rate of 3900rpm in the RxZ and RxL variants. The torque generated by the engine is 200Nm at 1900rpm on the RxE and RxE variants anf 248Nm at 2250rpm for the RxL and RxZ variants. The variants with a peak power of 85PS have a fuel efficiency of 20.46kmpl and transmission as 5 speed manual, whereas the variants with a peak power of 110PS boasts of fuel efficiency of 19.01kmpl and transmission as 6 speed manual.
The petrol fuel propels the RxE and RxL variants of the Duster SUV and sports a 1598cc engine which is capable of pumping out a peak power of 102PS at the rate of 5850rpm and a peak torque of 145Nm at the rate of 3750rpm. Mated to a five speed manual transmission system the engine boasts of a fuel efficiency of 13.24kmpl. Duster in both its versions (petrol and diesel) will support 4x2 architecture initially; the 4x4 variant is however expected to be launched later. Even in its 4x2 drive system the SUV is expected to give tough competition to the upcoming Ford EcoSport SUV.
