Renault may launch its hatchback Clio in India

As  all major car makers around the world are aggressively planning to launch theirs small cars in India, Renault, a France based car maker  may launch its famous small car Clio in the country. The launch of Cilo will add one car in recently launched new cars in India, including Chevrolet Beat which was launched in January, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo (launched in March). Besides this many upcoming cars in India are going to enter in this segment including Toyota Etios (will be launched by Dec 2010), Nissan Micra (will be launched by July 2010) and Honda New Small car (by year 2011).

The Clio is basically a premium hatchback car, first generation of which was launched in year 1990, at present, it is available in third generation in Europe. It is one of the most commercially successful car in Europe since its launch.

However, there is no conformation from the company's side regarding the launch of this new car in India. Company spokesman said that, At present, the company is just focusing on ‘Fluence’ sedan and ‘Koleos’ crossover. The small car will come late into the picture. He added that the company understands that it’s an excellent car, but it has not yet explored its feasibility.
