Renault introduced, Renault Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy, a limited edition powerful version of the quintessential Mégane R.S. in the Megane clan. Remember the hot yellow Mégane R.S. at the Renault stand in February at the Indian Auto Expo. Well, the Trophy version takes the performance hatch to a whole new level! The hot hatch aims high on claiming the Nurburgring crown of being the fastest front-wheel-drive (FWD) car to clock the North Loop (Nordschleife).
Seat Leon Cupra 280 hold the record for the world's fastest production spec front wheel drive car to clock the North Loop (Nordschleife) in 7 minutes and 58.4 seconds. The Megane R.S.'s record of 8 minutes and 7.97 seconds (recorded on June 17, 2011) was defeated by Seat's Leon Cupra 280.
To dethrone and to regain its title the French hatch will declare the new lap time that will be '#UNDER8' as they promote on their official website. It is scheduled to take place on June 16, 2014. Finger crossed! The north loop renowned as "The Green Hell” is nearly 20km amidst lush green surrounds.
Renault Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy adds both mechanical and stylistic alteration to recreate the magic once again. The Renault sports team excavated 10bhp more than the R.S's 2.0 liter turbo-charged petrol engine, the Trophy edition produces a whooping 275bhp of maximum power at 5,500rpm as compared to 265bhp of Megane R.S.
The Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy churns out 360Nm of peak torque in the range of 3,000 to 5,000rpm. Apart from this, the added oomph is delivered from S standard titanium exhaust system with carbon exhaust muffler from Akrapovic, which is indeed lighter than the standard exhaust and produces a loud exhaust note, will definitely grab attention.
The vehicle also features Megane Cup chassis with limited slip differential as standard. The Mégane R.S. 275 gets an optional suspension set up from Öhlins Road & Track dampers with steel springs and you can also ride with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres (jointly manufactured by Renault sports team and Michelin tyres) along with 19-inch black Speedline Turini alloys.
Speaking of stylistic makeovers, the vehicle gets twin Platine Grey racing stripes with Trophy decals. The limited edition vehicle is upholstered in leather and Alcantara Recaro bucket seats with contrasting red stitching and Reanult Sports badging on the head rests. The steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara along with the hand brake lever. The Renault Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy is priced at €38,000 (INR 30,48,486.50) and will be sold in 20 countries.
