Renault has been teasing a lot with the hash tag - #UNDER8 from couple of months now. Meanwhile, they introduced the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy, a tweaked up version of the Megane Cup. Now, the French automaker went even further and unveiled the limited edition potent version of the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy – the Trophy-R.
The car claims to be the fastest front wheel drive vehicle on the planet @ Nürburgring Nordschleife, with a lap record of 7 minutes and 54.36 seconds. Only 250 of these special editions will be made and will go on sale in around 15 countries.
Crushing the Seat Leon Cupra 280's record of world's fastest production spec front-wheel-drive car to lap the North Loop (Nordschleife) in 7 minutes and 58.4 seconds by a hefty 4 seconds. Pulling the car is a 2.0 liter turbo charged Renault powerplant.
The engine belts out a meaty 275bhp of maximum power at 5,500rpm while the motor blisters out a whooping 360Nm of peak torque in between the engine speed 3,000 – 5,000rpm. The vehicle features a Megane Cup's chassis with limited slip differential.
Apart from this, it hosts add-ons from renowned auto part makers in the world, like, Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and adjustable Öhlins Road & Track dampers.
The extreme Trophy-R version of the RS 275 has shed 100kg for this crown but is still flamboyant. The Trophy-R posses no rear seats, the 'Recaro Pôle Position polycarbonate monocoque' front seats helps to reduce 42kg.
The seats comes equipped with three-point seat belt, but a 'six-point harness with aviation-style buckle' offered as an accessory.
The car uses a lithium-ion battery, which reduces 16kg of weight. The 350/28 diameter steel and aluminum brake discs reduces the weight by further 3kg.
Speaking of the design, the Trophy R features a two tone design scheme. The roof of the vehicle comes painted in 'Etoilé Black' while the F1 inspired front bumper blade, chequered flag & side twin stipes are highlighted in 'Vif Red'. The 19 inch Speedline alloy wheels comes with optional black or red color. While the rest of the body comes painted in Pearlescent White finish(optional).
Tuck in your seat belt for a thrilling ride of Nurburgring's North Loop - Nordschleife!
