Renault Nissan Jv to tie-up with Ashok Leyland

Renault-Nissan Joint venture is expected to enter in a tie-up with major commercial vehicle manufacturer of India, Ashok Leyland (ALL).
The tie-up will help Nissan-Renault JV to manufacture a new passenger car in the country. The project of this new passenger car is expected to be poised between company's ultra-low-cost car project (ULC) with Bajaj and recently announced ‘Micra’ car.
According to Mr Carlos Ghosn, Renault-Nissan chairman, said thatRenault-Nissan JV is working on plans to expand some of its common
projects. Mr Ghosn inaugurated Renault-Nissan’s maiden greenfield car plant in Chennai at Oragadam on Wednesday.
Commenting on the upcoming passenger car Mr Ghosn said that company has not reached any conclusion till now with Ashok Leyland. Though hen ruled out any possibility of joining Bajaj in this project as Bajaj is already busy with its Ultra Low Cost car project. Besides this Mr Rajiv Bajaj, Bajaj Auto MD, told ET, I don’t know what’s on their mind as we haven’t discussed the project.
