Renault Sports R.S. 01 Sportscar Coming on August 27 [Video Inside]

After getting crowned for the world fastest front wheel drive production car to clock Nürburgring under 7minutes with Renault Megane 275 Trophy-R. The French automaker's sports division is all set to reveal a new sports car christened as Renault Sports R.S. 01. Furthermore, the car will be launched on 27th August at the 2014 Moscow International Auto Show next month. The upcoming sports car is entitled to compete in the 2015 Renault world championship series which will be in April next year.

On the design front, the vehicle looks typical of a sports cars territory. The elements like low slung profile and massive rear wing spoiler makes the car meaner. Moreover, the huge dual exhaust ports, FI style brake flasher and broad diffuser make things aggressive. The car also gets plethora of LED treatment. The teased image reveals a flowing rear LED tail lamp while the front gets day-time-running-LEDs.

Reportedly the new Renault Sports R.S. 01 is getting an NISMO (NISMO – Nissan Motorsport Renault's alliance partner) powered powerplant which belts out power in excess of 500bhp, expect a meaty torque figure too! The vehicle weighs just 1100kg thanks to carbon fiber monocoque making a power-to-weight ratio of a tad below 500bhp-per-tonne. The power is handled by a seven-speed sequential gearbox. Just like the 2014 Megane 275 Trophy-R the tyres of the Renault Sports R.S. 01 will be specially crafted by the quintessential Michelin.
