Skoda intends to launch a new small car

Skoda India is planning to launch a new small car in the country in next three years. The company intends to introduce the car below Skoda Fabia which is its existing smallest hatchback model in the country. It is expected that the new small car will be introduced with a price tag of Rs. 4-5 lakh. The car will compete with the likes of Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat, Volkswagen Polo and Maruti. Skoda’s new car is expected to be competitively priced as the new car will have high degree localization but the car will be a complete value for money car. The car will be manufactured at its existing Aurangabad unit and it will be introduced in both petrol and diesel variants.

Reinhard Fleger, Member of the Board, Sales and Marketing, Skoda Auto commented on the plan that they had aggressive plans for the Indian market and aimed to emerge as a major player in the Indian automotive industry’s growth story. Skoda has plans to develop the new car on its recently developed new platform which will roll out two new small car models – one for Volkswagen and one for Skoda.
