As we reported earlier, the Skoda Kodiaq Scout is slated to come to Indian shores in the Q4 of 2019. Now we can confirm that the Kodiaq Scout will be launched in the country around Diwali. Skoda already sells the Style and L&K variants of the Kodiaq in India, priced at Rs 35.37 lakh and Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom India), respectively. The Kodiaq Scout will be priced around the same.
The Scout variant of the Kodiaq is designed to go further off-road than its regular variants. It features an increased ground clearance of 194mm, 6mm more than the Style and L&K variants, which also helps better its approach and departure angles. The Style and L&K do come with an AWD setup, but in the case of the Scout variant, Skoda is offering an added Off-Road mode. It tinkers with the throttle response and dampers of the SUV and also helps in holding the car which climbing up inclines or going down them.
Visibly, the Kodiaq Scout will feature 19-inch alloy wheels and silver details on the grille, roof rails, ORVM housing, side window trims and front and rear underbody protection internationally. The interior of the SUV is done up in black and features the word ‘Scout’ on the seat backrest and the glove compartment.
We expect the Kodiaq Scout to use the same powertrain as the Style and L&K versions, a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 150PS of max power and 340Nm of peak torque and sends power to all four-wheels via a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
On the features front, the Kodiaq Scout should be similarly specced as the Style variant of the Kodiaq. Thus, features like LED headlamps; ESC; front, side and curtain airbags; KESSY (Keyless Entry, Start and exit System with engine start/stop button); and power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats should be on offer in the Kodiaq Scout.
The Scout will be the third variant of the Kodiaq to be offered in India. It was first launched in October 2017 in India in a single variant. The L&K variant came a year later in November 2018 and now Skoda will be sticking to a similar timeline with the Scout variant of the SUV.
